Read 180 - Federal Initiative to help struggling readers and ESL, not just for SpEd, 3rd-12rd, all ms, hs, and Voigt & Robertson,
Read 180 instruction - 20 min. group instruction, breakouts - 20 min. computer, 20 min reading, 20 min with small group and teacher; fluency, comprehension,
Read 180 tracks student, and student has program specific leveled text.
Program is based on Lexile, DRA, SRI, TAKS lexile score, etc. will be used to identify students
Principals have identified rooms and identified teachers and drops (but must reidentify)
Deputy Superintendent Toni Garcia capped class size at 18.

Issues: Master Schedules in place --
Linda Noy, Director of SpEd, will pay SpEd teacher salaries
Launch date is Sept. 28
Teacher training - Sept. 3
Campus must provide computers; if you have a SpEd teacher - Linda Noy may be able to buy some computers
Try to use diagnostician or LSSP machines if you have a SpEd teacher. All diags and LSSP's will go to laptops and no longer have a desktop,
Will classrooms need a projector??
(Example at Deerpark: Journalism teacher, SpEd, and ESL teachers will be trained.)

Boardmaker must be printed on color laser; SpEd will purchase ink cartridges for SpEd laser

submit form on Fridays, you must spend 50% of your time on SpEd (hours to be calculated and turned in at end of semester)
